Vauxhall Partners with Tesco to Offer £500 Charging Credit for Electric Vehicle Owners
Vauxhall has announced a new partnership with supermarket giant Tesco, aiming to make electric vehicle (EV) ownership more convenient and affordable for customers across the UK. The collaboration provides new Vauxhall electric vehicle buyers with £500 in charging credit to use at Tesco's nationwide network of EV charging stations.
This partnership is part of Vauxhall’s ongoing commitment to supporting the shift to electric mobility, making it easier for customers to charge their electric vehicles while they shop. New Vauxhall private customers who purchase an electric car, either through a Vauxhall retailer or via the online store, will receive the £500 charging credit to use at any Tesco store equipped with a PodPoint charging station.
Tesco, in partnership with PodPoint, operates the UK’s largest retail EV charging network, with 2,700 charging bays across 619 stores. This network includes a mix of 7kW, 22kW, 50kW, and 75kW charging stations, providing drivers with a variety of charging options. With more than 70% of the UK population living within a 10-minute drive of a Tesco store, the partnership significantly improves access to EV charging.
In addition to the charging credit, all 2,700 charging bays will be updated with a co-branded Vauxhall and Tesco livery, reinforcing the collaboration between the two companies. The partnership is part of Tesco's wider strategy to support the transition to electric mobility, including their Electric Streets initiative, which aims to improve access to on-street residential charging for the 40% of UK households without off-street parking.
The Electric Streets initiative encourages EV owners or potential buyers to share their local charging needs, helping to inform councils and local governments about where charging infrastructure is most needed. By mapping out demand across the UK, Vauxhall and Tesco hope to accelerate the installation of residential charging points, further easing the transition to electric vehicles.
As an added bonus, Vauxhall customers who purchase a new^ car through the partnership will also receive 50,000 Tesco Clubcard points, worth £500 to spend at Tesco or with over 100 Tesco Reward Partners. This can be used for a range of rewards, from groceries to holidays and spa days, making the switch to an electric Vauxhall even more rewarding.
Vauxhall’s electric range, including its award-winning models, is now available at competitive prices, often matching the cost of petrol vehicles on a monthly payment basis. For more information or to take advantage of the £500 charging credit, potential customers can visit their local Vauxhall dealer.
This partnership represents a significant step towards making electric vehicles more accessible and practical for drivers across the UK, helping to shape a more sustainable and convenient future for all.
